Selangor Football Club (Selangor FC) today announces the departure of winger Alvin Fortes after two seasons with the Red Giants.

Fortes, who was announced as a new signing on 4 February 2024, quickly established himself as one of the most outstanding attacking players in the squad, known for his sweet left foot, pace, bravery, and constant threat on the flanks. As one of the key attacking outlets on the wing, he consistently brought excitement to supporters through goals, assists, and eye-catching attacking play. Across his time with Selangor FC, he made 79 appearances, accumulating 5,085 minutes, while contributing 33 goals and 17 assists in all competitions.

His debut season was particularly impressive, registering 20 goals and seven assists, a performance that earned him both the ‘Best Signing’ and ‘Player of the Season’ awards at the SFC Fans’ Choice Awards 2024/25. From the outset, he was a key figure in the attacking unit and one of the team’s most consistent sources of goals and creativity.

He also set a remarkable record during the 2024/25 season by becoming the only player in the squad to score in all five major competitions; the Malaysia Super League, FA Cup, Malaysia Cup, MFL Challenge Cup, and the AFC Champions League Two which underlined his consistency and impact across multiple stages.

Beyond individual achievements, his contributions played a key role in Selangor FC’s resurgence, as the team finished second in the Malaysia Super League in back-to-back seasons, securing qualification for Asian competitions such as the AFC Champions League Two (2024/25 - 2025/26) and the ACC Shopee Cup 2025/26. He also played a part in helping Selangor FC reach the FA Cup final and in the team’s MFL Challenge Cup triumph.

Among his most memorable moments in the Red and Yellow jersey was his two-goal performance against Perak FC in December 2024, helping the team secure all three points in Ipoh. He also produced moments of individual brilliance against Terengganu FC with his trademark pace and left-footed finishing. More recently, Fortes delivered a magical moment against Penang FC, coming off the bench to curl home a stunning free-kick, once again showcasing his trademark quality.

On the international stage, Fortes earned a recall to the Cape Verde national team in 2025 for a series of friendly matches, marking his return to the international setup since 2018. His performances for Selangor FC were a key factor in reopening the door to the national team.

Fortes will be remembered as a player who constantly posed a threat on the wing, bringing excitement to supporters with goals, assists, and an entertaining attacking style. His performances made him one of Selangor FC’s most dangerous attacking weapons during his time at the club.
